Quest operations are best understood as a state model with different creator and participant actions in each phase.

State model

The quest lifecycle includes setup, live participation, deadline transition, review, finalization, claim window, and closure. The creator workflow changes materially across these states.

Setup
Configure tasks, rewards, channels, deployment, and funding.
No participation.
Scheduled / funded
Quest is configured and ready for its start condition.
No participation until live.
Active
Monitor participation and quest health.
Join and complete tasks.
Ending soon
Prepare for review and communication.
Complete remaining tasks before deadline.
Ended
Open manage flow and begin review.
No new progress expected.
Review / manage
Inspect submissions and prepare the reward outcome.
Await finalization.
Finalized
Communicate claims availability.
Eligible winners can claim.
Claim window
Monitor claims and unresolved issues.
Claim while the window is open.
Closed
Residual funds return per system behavior and the quest is operationally complete.
No further claim action.
